Ecolabel in action: tourism businesses support nature and biodiversity

In the guideline for tourism and leisure businesses, there is a requirement in criterion UZ 200-F05 to motivate businesses to contribute to the promotion of biodiversity.

Nature-oriented design of the outdoor area

Licensees of the guideline UZ 200 Tourism and Leisure Economy are requested to either design their outdoor area close to nature or to plant a kitchen garden, perhaps even with rare fruit, vegetable or medicinal plants. If this garden is then also used to inform and educate guests, this earns additional points. If businesses do not have an outdoor area, they can still make a contribution by cooperating with nearby nature reserves. Donations to organisations dedicated to biodiversity conservation also contribute to biodiversity.
